FAQ

How should I save my file?
All work should be done in CMYK and has to be saved as "press quality"
(saving any other way will convert your colors to RGB) pdf
-as individual pages in numerical order / no spreads please.
Page count divisible by 16 if planning on doing signatures ( 12, 16, 48, 64 .....)
Why should I use just black as opposed to a "rich black"?
You can use a rich black, C:30% m:0% y:0% K:100%
Otherwise, all black should be screened (cmy = 0% K = 100%)
Grays(Grays should be treated the same as black/K) NEEDS TO BE SCREENED as well
(cmy = 0% K = 15% lowest - 95% highest) i
instead of using a "process" gray(ex: C:20% M:20% Y:20% K:20%).
What do you mean by flatten?
On our presses the info transferred from computer to press will result in your transparencies not reading correctly
(ex: drop shadows will read as a separate object, printing out box shape over your background color/text/art.).
Flatten a transparencies / use high resolution for photo images cmyk or gray scale (300-600dpi)
In most cases, we ask that you "rasterize" that particular page at 600dpi(CMYK) then saved as a "press quality" pdf.
What is a bleed & how do I add it?
Bleed is when you have color/image that prints to the edge of the sheet or finished size.
We ask that you add a minimum 1/8"(.125") extra on all 4 sides for bleed trim.
- the more the better(ex: 8.5" x 11" finish size = 8.75" x 11.25" pdf document size submitted w/ bleed).
-no marks( if you need to, offset them by .125" / 1/8").
Can you match my colors from screen to final print?
As far as color matching - inorder to get a "true" pantone color,
you will have to go traditional offset which can drive up cost double in most cases & not cost effective.
If that is the direction you prefer, we can accommodate.
What we will do is create a hard copy proof for your viewing & make the necessary adjustments if needed.
What is the smallest font size I can use?
Smallest font size is 8pt although bold fonts can be around 7pt
If using K text &/or graphic over color screen - overprint fonts &/or graphics
